hard to argue with that.

Makes me laugh that the commentators last night and some of our supporters think we were good for a point last night.

Liverpool should have been out of sight before our penalty. Absolutely battered us as our usual safety first, boring bollocks, keep it tight, passive approach wasn't making a game of it. Only luck and good goalkeeping from Fabianski kept the scoreline down to 1-0 before the penalty. It would have been daylight robbery had we scored the penalty and gone in at half time 1-1. And we all know what would have happened second half had it been 1-1 at half time, Liverpool would have been all over us looking for the winner, while we defended for our lives trying to RESPECT THE POTENTIAL POINT.

Minnow clubs like Brighton seem to be able to go to Liverpool and compete. Fucking PALACE have turned over Man City at their ground in recent seasons. All us supporters ask for is a bit of endeavour and attacking intent from the off.

Yes, Moyes keeps it tight and we never get battered under him, but the football we play is boring as fuck and many supporters have had enough of it, of him and of his negatives, dinosaur tactics.

Fair point. But I think the issue for people is we see what can be achieved in the second half. I know it could've gone either way - But if we start the game like we did second half and lose then at least you've gone there, turned up and give them a good going over.

Last night Moyes played the most negative line up I have seen him play (7 defensive players). We are dogshit first half. He changes it up and all of a sudden we are in the game and could've won it.

Why is Moyes waiting to see what they do? Just go out and do what we can do. Let them worry about us. Its all very dull.

But as you say, onto Bournemouth.

I think we were unlucky in places. But they missed some glorious chances. I'm not sure if we warranted a point. The starting line up was abysmally negative. Moyes continues to ignore Benrahma for a start who then comes on and changes the game.

Despite Moyes negative mood through the summer, which hasn't changed and is now being transmitted into his line ups and the players approach, we have been unlucky in a few games. Notts Forest, Chelsea and last night. All of those games should've healed at least one point per game and, in another season, possibly all three. Things could currently look alot better in league position.

But then again, in games we've won I think we've been a bit lucky. And we've scrambled and almost nicked the 3 points.

I am really concerned. Our league form has in general been pretty pedestrian since January and this season we've shown no substantial improvement, despite a huge summer investment.

Not sure if some of you would rather rock up at these big clubs, go all out attack and get done 5-0.

Of course we’re gonna try and contain them and nick a goal on the break, or from a set piece.

Very unfortunate last night. Bowen’s penalty was a disgrace, as was SCAMacca’s finishing. Wonder if Sassuolo do refunds?

Onto Bournemouth. Time to lock this thread.

I hate to say it but day before game I said we would set up negatively and look to nick a point. And probably end up losing a close game that should be there for the taking.

So predictable. As is Moyes.

Why was Klopp allowed on the touchline last night when in the last game he was sent off and has been charged by the FA. Have the rules changed?

Scoreline should have been 4-1 to them. They missed some major chances and we only looked mildly decent once they'd taken off some of their best players and we'd put on some of our more in -form but never going to start lads.

This manager is the definition of safety first.

I said this, their subs helped us & played massively into our hands I think, we just wasn’t good enough to punish em. Also if Bowen scores the pen I doubt we would have been as adventurous as we were 2nd half.

That triple change by Klopp nearly cost them two points.

Even the best managers in the world make mistakes.

Re: ⚽ Liverpool v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Should we have won or took a point?

I'm not so sure, Klopp made three subs to rest his players because we weren't laying a glove on them. Yes we rallied after that but I'm sure had we scored they would have come again.

We surrendered the first 60 minutes and gave ourselves 30 to get a draw.

Does anyone think we wouldn't have reverted to type had we equalised

Re: ⚽ Liverpool v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
First half reminded me how we played with Haller. A striker isolated up front. Second half put someone close to Scamacca and we looked great.

We missed Paqueta who is the perfect link man.

That said what ever we think of the approach we should have won or at least got a point.

Re: ⚽ Liverpool v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Two fundamentally attacking players in the starting 11.

Play for 0v0.

Put subs on late.

Concede first and lose.

Despite the fact we could and should have nicked something doesn't change the fact it's the exact same pattern as every single match we play against the big teams, especially away from home.

It is getting a bit Alladycey around the place at moment. Set up to defend and not concede despite having plenty of attacking players.
What happened to taking the game from the first minute and the press? Last time I remember that was Lyon away.
Moyes has gone back to type.

Funny thing is you can easily guess what the result will be when you see the lineup. It's clear to pretty much everyone except the manager. 19th shite game away at big6 side in a row. We set up not to concede, we concede and it's game over

Made me laugh when Antonio lost his shit after Scamacca fluffed his shot.

Almost as if he himself has never done that..

Deserved a point despite our defensive line up.

Once again we set up not to lose rather than win and it costs us again.

Liverpool really aren’t at it at the moment and we’re for the taking.

Why do our first half’s seem to be so much worse than our seconds? It seems to be a tactical decision to only start playing if we are losing or approaching the end of a game.

Thought Downes played well and did not look out of place. Fabianski had a great game as did Rice.

Fornals once again offering little to nothing. We looked much more positive when Benrahma came on.

It’s telling how last night and at Southampton, our fans were calling for Antonio.

SCAMacca just doesn’t look up to it.

One thing I've noticed recently - and particularly last night - is our inability (or reticence) to pass the ball IN FRONT of a player for them to run on to. Every time it's either at or behind a player meaning we inevitably turn back and start minging around playing it across the back.

Re: ⚽ Liverpool v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Scamacca is obviously a decent player but once again you have to play to his strengths. He isn't the sort of striker who is going to be much use in a counter attacking team stuck on his own. He gives something different to Antonio but if Moyes was going to play exactly the same way then surely he had to try and find a similar striker to Antonio not someone more in the Haller mode. If not, then he has to have players who are going to run beyond him and whilst technically Bowen can do that, Fornals isn't. Scamacca also isn't going to make himself too many chances, he relies on service where Antonio can bumble along knocking people out of the way, his main issue is the end product is few and far between.

There was one moment when Antonio came on when he flicked it on for Scamacca. Just a tad too far but that was promising, a rare direct link up between "strikers". It's got to be given a chance though to play both of them, although in what formation I don't know.
